During a meeting with the Parliamentary Education Committee on Monday, July 8, 2019, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, Walid Maani explained that Kuwait and Qatar's decision to accredit only certain Jordanian universities does not mean that the universities are not officially recognized.
Maani clarified that there is a difference between recognition and accreditation. The first means that a country recognizes that a university in another country is suitable and has a good environment, while accreditation means selecting universities, where students of other nationalities can study.
He reaffirmed that all Jordanian universities are recognized by Qatar and Kuwait, but only a number of them are accredited.
